Ideation

This is a portable first aid kit designed for everyday life. While becoming more environmentally friendly, we want all ordinary people without professional medical knowledge to be able to use the first aid kit easily and correctly in emergency situations.

  • Do you know how to use a first aid kit?

  • Do you know the procedure of trauma bandaging?

  • Are you a calm person in an emergency?

The questions above are where the project started.

The primary objective is to solve the questions above: how to make existing first-aid package design to become user-friendly and make medical items further organized. The secondary purpose is to make the package more portable. Considering the daily use, we choose paper as our first choice to create this design.

Target Audience

  • general public

  • office use

  • family essential

Brand Name

The brand name"ouch!" comes from a common reaction when people are injured. We want to connect people's subconscious response with the brand name so that whenever people say "Ouch" when people are injured, they will first think of our first aid kit that can be used anywhere, anytime.

Medical Items

Some essential first aid items are carefully selected in this first aid kit, and these items are sorted and arranged in 3 easy step-by-step use direction. The container is divided into three compartments: The first step is to clean and disinfect the wound, the second step is apply various treatment drugs, and the third step is bandaging.

Solution

First of all, we used paper packaging, which is highly environmentally friendly, handy and lightweight, which suitable for carrying around. Then we divided the process of using the first aid kit into 3 steps: disinfection, treatment and bandaging.

Through continuous design iterations, we used the method of opening the hexagonal box from the middle part of the front surface. The advantage of this opening method is to save time for injury.

After experimentations, we discovered that opening from the front cover is 1 to 2 seconds faster than a traditional square box or zipper.
